Brazil trade of balance has second best February performance

Imports lowered more than exports in the month

Brazil’s trade of balance closed out February with the second highest positive result for the month since the beginning of this time series in 1989. Last month, the country sold $3.673 billion more than it bought from overeseas, according to figures from the Ministry of the Economy.

The previous record for February was $4.555 billion, registeredd in 2017. A $2.999 surplus was reported in February last year.

Exports added up to $16.293 billion, down 15.8 percent from February last year under the daily average criterion. Imports amounted to $14.411 billion, a decline of 21.2 percent in the same comparison. In the first two months of 2019, the country’s balance of trade saw a positive $5.865 billion, against an also positive $5.823 billion in the same period in 2018.
