The government of Rio de Janeiro published today (10), in the Official Gazette , that there is no impediment to fireworks and parties in open or public environments at the turn of the year. The technical recommendations were drawn up by the Technical Advisory Group for Public Health Events, of the State Health Department.

The text assigns the authorities to create measures to limit public access to avoid agglomerations. And they do not recommend concerts and performances by artists in squares, beaches and public places.

Capital will have ten places with fireworks

Yesterday, the mayor of the capital Eduardo Paes confirmed the fireworks display for the most famous New Year's Eve in Brazil, on Copacabana beach. Nine other places in the city will also have fireworks shows .

According to him, the objective is to spread the festivities throughout all regions of the capital, in order to prevent the population from going, primarily, to Copacabana, avoiding agglomerations.

There will be 16 minutes of fireworks in Copacabana, 12 minutes at Flamengo, 10 minutes at Igreja da Penha, 8 minutes at Piscinão de Ramos, Ilha do Governador, Parque Madureira, Bangu and Praia de Sepetiba, 5 minutes at Recreio and in Barra da Tijuca.

Paes guaranteed that the party will be safe, from a sanitary point of view, and recalled that Rio is one of the cities with the highest rate of vaccination against covid-19. The mayor stressed that tourists must come vaccinated, presenting a vaccine passport to enter certain places, such as bars and hotels, or they will be able to get vaccinated when they arrive in the city.

According to Eduardo Paes, there will be vaccination points against covid-19, including on the Copacabana shore.

“We are looking for a simplification of New Year's Eve, with fireworks visible from most of the city, so that there is no concentration in Copacabana. We will have New Year's Eve in 10 points”, he said, at a press conference yesterday (9). To avoid a large influx of visitors on the 31st, the entry of charter buses will be prohibited, with police barriers on the roads.

On the edge of Copacabana there will be 25 towers with loudspeakers. As a way of discouraging the coming of people to the shore, there will be no reinforcement of the bus fleet, nor will the subway schedule be extended. Traffic on the main roads in Copacabana will be blocked for non-residents from 19:00 on the 31st and the bus lines will be diverted to the neighborhoods of Botafogo and Lagoa.

Paes said that further details of the party will be released in the coming weeks.
