Heavy rains hit São Paulo again this Tuesday
After a complicated start to the morning due to heavy rains that hit the city of São Paulo today (13), the Emergency Management Center (CGE) informed that, at the moment, there are seven active flooding points, of which three are passable and four impassable (two in the south and two in the center). During the most critical period of the morning, there were 23 flooding points. The capital was in a state of attention until 8:45 am.
People using Metro Line 4-Yellow also had problems. An electrical failure caused by a power surge left the line paralyzed from 7:30 am to 8:48 am. By means of a note, Via 4, the concessionaire that manages the line, informed that the operation was normalized. He also said that the emergency button of a train was activated and it was emptied with the guidance of service and security agents.
Unstable and rainy weather
The disturbances occurred because this morning started with moderate rain due to areas of instability associated with a cold front that is already on the coast of São Paulo. The continuation of rains throughout the day increases the potential for flooding, falling trees and landslides.
According to meteorologists from the CGE, the temperature at dawn was around 20.3ºC, but the minimum should occur at the end of the night with a forecast of 17ºC. The more closed and rainy weather does not allow temperatures to rise much.
Today, the maximum should be 22°C with air humidity levels between 65% and 95%. Meteorologists also informed that the passage of a cold front along the coast of São Paulo causes more widespread rains, reduces the strong heat observed in recent days and reduces the condition of significant rainfall.
Wednesday (14) should start with a lot of clouds and occasional showers due to humid winds that blow from the sea against the coast of São Paulo. The frontal system quickly moves away from the coast of São Paulo, however, the maritime winds that start to blow from the ocean keep the day with cloud variation, but without rain.
Temperatures should vary between a minimum of 16°C and a maximum of around 21°C. Air humidity remains high with minimum values of 55%.
On Thursday, the scenario remains stable and no rain forecast for the capital and Greater São Paulo.
