The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) published on Thursday (Jun. 2) a public call notice for the accreditation of national Electoral Observation Missions (EOM) that wish to follow the 2022 Elections` procedures. Interested parties must sign up until July 5.

At the opening of the plenary session yesterday (2), TSE President Minister Edson Fachin invited civil society entities and higher educational institutions to enroll.

“I make an appeal, on behalf of the Electoral Justice, to universities, civil society entities and organizations, academic institutions of higher education, public or private, and institutes that research electoral matters to request an accreditation,” Fachin said.

This is the first time the Electoral Court publishes a broad call notice for national EOMs.

Fachin has pointed out that this measure complies with the recommendation of the Organization of American States (OAS), made in the monitoring report on the 2018 elections released by the institution.

By promoting the participation of Electoral Observation Missions, the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court wishes to make the suitability of the electoral process even more reliable.

A record number of six international delegations have confirmed their participation as observers of the 2022 Elections so far.

According to the norms of the Electoral Justice, the missions, whether national or international, aim to: observe the fulfillment of the national electoral norms; observe the different stages of the electoral process; and verify the impartiality and effectiveness of the organization, direction, supervision, administration and execution of the electoral process.
