Rousseff welcomes Bulgaria president
Bulgaria President Rosen Plevneliev comes to Brazil on an official visit on February 1–3, with scheduled activities in Brasília and São Paulo. He will be welcomed today (Feb. 1st) by President Rousseff.
This is his first official visit to Brazil. He was in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 for the Rio+20 Conference.
At today's meetings, the two presidents will discuss the main topics on the bilateral agenda, particularly trade and investment, science and technology, and education, as well as global issues. They will also sign a Social Security Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding between Brazil's National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and Bulgaria's Ministry of Education and Science.
Brazil and Bulgaria established diplomatic relations in 1934. In 2015, the bilateral trade flow was $161 million, with Brazil netting a $74.81 million surplus.
On Tuesday (2), President Plevneliev will chair business rounds with Brazilian and Bulgarian entrepreneurs at the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) headquarters in São Paulo.
