Acting President Temer disapproved of by 39% of Brazilians
A little over a month into the interim government of Brazil's acting President Michel Temer, his administration was rated as “poor” or “terrible” by 39% of the population in June, according to a CNI/IBOPE poll commissioned and released today (July 1st) by Brazil's National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
Temer took office as Brazil's acting president on May 12, when the Senate carried a motion to suspend President Dilma Rousseff for impeachment proceedings.
In the latest CNI/IBOPE poll about President Dilma Rousseff's administration, released in March, 69% of respondents rated her government as “poor” or “terrible”.
The percentage of people who rated Michel Temer's administration as “excellent” or “good” was 13%, against 10% for Rousseff. Temer had 36% “average” ratings, compared to Rousseff's 19%.
The approval ratings for Temer are overall better than Rousseff's. The rate of respondents who said they approved of Temer's ruling style was 31%, compared to 53% who said they disapproved. In March, only 14% approved of Rousseff's ruling style, as against 82% who disapproved.
Trust
Asked if they trusted interim President Temer, 27% of respondents said yes, and 66% said no. In March, Rousseff's trust rate was 18%, compared to 80% of respondents who said they did not trust her.
The poll released today heard 2,002 people in 141 municipalities between June 24 and 27. The margin of sampling error is minus or plus two percentage points.
