Hospitalized for four days in São Paulo’s Albert Einstein Hospital, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has shown good clinical evolution, with no fever or other signs of infection, a medical report released Thursday (Jan. 31) says. He is recovering from a surgery carried out on January 28 to rebuild his intestinal tract.

Otávio do Rêgo Barros, the president’s spokesman, said Bolsonaro talked to and worked with an adviser making decision and signing decrees. Meanwhile, visits to the Brazilian head of state are still limited. Barros went on to say that Bolsonaro is still being fed intravenously. Liquid and semi-solid feeding will be reintroduced piecemeal.

Measures against venous thrombosis will be maintained, the report says, as well as exercises for breathing and muscular strength and walks outside the room. No organ malfunctions were seen and lab exams were seen to hold stable.
