Of the total balance of 1.48 mi new jobs created last year by companies of any size, medium and large corporations generated 209,99 thousand positions, 14.2%.
The states with the highest balances in 2023 were São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro. So far this year, the biggest growth in formal employment has been in services, with a balance of 1,067,218 posts, 59.8% of the result.
The figure represents a real surge of 5.6% from the same period last season, making it the sector’s biggest financial turnover since the survey began, in 2012.
The decline—from 8% in the second quarter to 7.7% in the third quarter this year—was mainly driven by the decline in São Paulo state, where the index fell from 7.8% to 7.1% in the period.
Micro and small companies accounted for 1.1 mi (or 71%) of the 1.5 mi new formal jobs created in Brazil between January and September. August and September were the most favorable, with 219,330 and 211,764 new formal jobs respectively.
