Minas Gerais Fire Department confirmed today (Nov. 6) the second death after the collapse of two dams in Bento Rodrigues village near the town of Mariana. The body was found in Rio Doce, town neighboring the tragedy's site.

Fundão and Santarém dams belong to Samarco mining company and burst yesterday (Nov. 5) at around 16.30. They flooded the area with mud, solid waste and water residue from mining operations.

The Fire Department reported that it has rescued more than 500 residents of areas impacted by the collapse of dams. A total of 105 firefighters and 20 service vehicles are in Bento Rodrigues, the rural village where the disaster occurred.
