New Brazil government to have weekend filled with meetings
The first weekend of interim President Michel Temer has few public engagements, but is expected to be teeming with negotiations and internal dealings. Appointed Thursday (May 12), Temer's cabinet is expected to dedicate its schedule Saturday (14) and Monday (15) to becoming familiar with the new state of affairs and preparing to start their administration in the upcoming week.
Advised by the acting president not to waste any time, some cabinet members are gathering their teams this weekend to outline their first plans. Talks are being held on an informal basis, as a number of team members have not yet been officially nominated. Dilma Rousseff's now ousted administration assigned a secretary in each ministry to assist the new ministers during the transition.
No public engagements have been slated in Temer's schedule for Saturday. He is to remain in Brasília but may still fly to São Paulo later in the day.
