Brazil’s President-Elect Jair Bolsonaro received his diploma Monday (Dec. 10) during a ceremony at the Superior Electoral Court, along with future vice-President Hamilton Mourão. The ritual serves to confirm that the candidates have met all requirements to take office.
The diplomas are signed by court Chief Justice Rosa Weber. The document includes the candidate’s name, his party or coalition, and the position for which they ran.
Bolsonaro and Mourão were welcomed with applause. Next, Brazil’s anthem was played by the marines’ band. Bolsonaro sang along with his hand on his chest. The court handed out some 700 invitations to the event.
