COVID-19: Brazil records over 120,500 cases and 854 deaths in 24 hours
In 24 hours, Brazil recorded 120,549 new cases of COVID-19, and 854 deaths from complications associated with the disease.
Considering the new figures, the number of people infected since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 27,659,052, according to information released by the Health Ministry on Monday (Feb. 14).
The number of fatalities from COVID-19 recorded since the pandemic started has reached 639,689.
Patients being monitored — when notification was made in the previous 14 days and still require attention — total 2,766,829.
3,154 fatalities are still under investigation. In these cases, further tests and procedures are needed to determine whether the cause of death was COVID-19.
By Tuesday (Feb. 15), 24,252,534 people had recovered from the disease. The number accounts for 87.7% of the infected since the pandemic started.
The data can be found in the latest daily report published by Brazil’s Health Ministry on Tuesday (Feb. 15). The document combines figures on cases and deaths associated with COVID-19, submitted by municipal and state secretariats.
Vaccination
Until Tuesday, 374.9 million shots of the vaccine against COVID-19 had been administered in the country — 169.7 million received the first dose, and 154.8 million the second or single dose. Over 46 million have received the booster shot.
