President Dilma Rousseff welcomed China's Prime Minister Li Keqiang at Palácio do Planalto on Tuesday (May 19). Keqiang arrived at about 10:30 am (local time) and was met by the president at the Noble Room of the presidential palace, also known as the mirror hall.

Li Keqiang's visit comes less than a year since Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Brazil, which resulted in more than 50 agreements. This time, the two countries are expecting to sign at least 30 acts to enhance bilateral cooperation and trade.

The Chinese mission includes 150 executives who are at a meeting with Brazilian business leaders as part of the China-Brazil Business Summit at the Foreign Ministry building (Itamaraty Palace).

The Brazilian government expects the visit to ultimately solve the issue with Brazil's beef exports to China. During President Xi Jinping's visit in July 2014, China announced it would lift a ban on Brazilian beef that had been in force since 2012. But there is a pending sanitary protocol to be signed.
