Brazil has 1.7k deaths, 75.1k cases of COVID-19 in 24h

Recovered patients have topped 9,63 million

In the last 24 hours, Brazil reported 1,699 new deaths from COVID-19 and 75,102 new cases of the disease. The new fatalities did not exceed Wednesday’s (Mar. 3) 1,910 record, but this is the pandemic’s second deadliest day since the beginning.

The figure brings the total COVID-19 death toll to 260,970 in the country, which also has 2,86 deaths under investigation by health care teams.

From Wednesday to Thursday, the country witnessed the highest daily case tally, outweighed only by January 8, when 87,843 positive diagnoses were added to the statistics. The total number of people infected since the beginning of the pandemic has therefore reached 10,793,732.

The data can be found in the daily update released by the Brazilian Ministry of Health on Thursday (4). The report combines information on cases and deaths caused by COVID-19 gathered by state health secretariats all over the country.

The amount of patients recovered from the disease now stands at 9,637,020. There are also 895,742 cases being monitored by health agents.

States

The list of Brazilian states with the highest number of fatalities from COVID-19 is headed by São Paulo, with 60,694 deaths. Next come Rio de Janeiro (33,466), Minas Gerais (19,032), Rio Grande do Sul (13,021), and Bahia (12,251).

The states with the lowest death counts are Acre (1,037), Roraima (1,143), Amapá (1,152), Tocantins (1,557), and Rondônia (2,991).
